Sink Hole activity is a huge problem for all residents that live in the state of Florida. Many areas of the state have the right geological conditions where it is possible to see activity related to sink holes. Inverness residents might be under the impression that sink holes are a ground level phenomenon, and that sink holes do not form in a body of water or in the ocean, but this is not true. In fact, some of the largest sink holes ever recorded in the United States and around the world can be found below the surface of a body of water.
What are Blue Holes?
When a sink hole is fully formed under water, they are often referred to as blue holes. This is because from above the sinkhole is much darker than the rest of the body of water they are because that area is no longer at the same depth as the surrounding sediments. When it comes to blue hole sink holes, Inverness residents should know that they are not only a phenomenon that happens in the ocean. Sink holes underwater are more than capable of developing under a lake or stream as they are in the middle of the ocean.
Can Sink Holes Underwater be Fixed?
When it comes to dealing with sink holes, Inverness residents and many other individuals’’ first thoughts are to get it fixed up so that it stops growing, but is this even possible to do when a sink hole is under water? Sink holes that can be found under a body of water are often left alone because there is little to no benefit of fixing them, if it is even possible. Most structures that are affected by sink hole activity need to be remediated because they are threatening the structural integrity of a building and can be dangerous for those that live there, but underwater sink holes do not really bother human structures enough to find a solution to fix them.
